SPRING GROVE, MN

Meat you can trust

Meet Your Farmers!

Jim and Ellen are energetic Minnesota plant nerds, obsessed with good food, thriving animals, and vibrant ecosystems.

Situated on a beautiful 160-acre farm in the heart of the “driftless region” of SE Minnesota, we live with our daughter Esther, mother Julie, dog Kaya, and guard llamas Llarry and Llenny. Born and raised on MN farms, Jim and I have discovered our calling: connecting our customers to delicious, ethical, and nutrient-dense meat while respecting the dignity of our animals and regenerating the health of our ecosystem.

Food should be simple, not a jungle of marketing terminology. We’re raising meat with a classic, old-school flavor, free of additives and raised on its natural diet and lifestyle.

Meat. Plain and Simple (the way it was meant to be).

Healthy animals = Healthy food

Nutritious

Pasture-raised means lean meat, higher in nutrients and lower in saturated fats. Compared with chicken and turkey raised in confinement operations, pasture-raised poultry can have 15% more collagen, 2.3 times more omega-3 fatty acids, 3 times more long-chain omega-3s, 6% higher protein, 90% lower omega-3: omega-6 ratio, 1.9 times higher polyunsaturated : unsaturated fats, and 1.3 times more vitamin E.

Ethical

Grass, grain, and sunshine are the rule. Every animal on our farm has access to pasture as soon as and for as long as possible during the year, ensuring a nutrient-dense diet and a lifestyle that respects each animal's natural behavior. By embracing our animals' natural lifestyles, we strive to produce the highest quality food from healthy and happy animals.

Sustainable

Producing food while healing the soil and our ecosystem. By raising animals on pasture, we're able to capture carbon in the soil, increase soil organic matter, reduce erosion and nutrient runoff, and maintain local wildlife habitat; all while producing food that is utterly delicious and that supports our local economy! Buying pasture-raised meat benefits you, your family, the planet, and your community.
